Vaccine flatulence contributes to global warming, studies say.
The farts that cows expel (burping and flatulence) generate greenhouse gases and are the cause of accelerating climate change. This is the basic argument of the European Union, to request the reduction of the cattle herd, which affects countries that produce animal meat, among which Paraguay is a relevant actor.
The new Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Gimenez, pointed out that the intention of imposing the European Union does not correspond, since it substantially affects the economy of the member countries of Mercosur.
“We are the ones who provide food to them and there is an agenda that they want to install us and we (Paraguay and Mercosur) must have a firm position, because all this is economics”, said Gimenez in communication with 730 AM. He argued that the livelihood of our economy is agriculture, which is why it is a crucial issue for the country.
“We have to agree. Our economic strength is based on that. Being in Europe, they also have a problem between neighbors, like us in Mercosur, ”he added.
Gimenez emphasized on the other hand that the conditions of the European Union to grant its loans and donations, have no argumentative support, since it does not correspond to impositions of this nature.
“I am clear about defending the position of our country, not only now, we did not imagine that it would reach that point (conditioning)… We see the issue of loans, not just donations, which are conditioned. If one is going to lend money, why are you going to condition, what am I going to give you for, if you condition what you are going to do”he highlighted.

MERCOSUR VS. EU
Negotiations between Mercosur and the European Union, regarding trade agreements, were abruptly halted, as a result of the conditions of the old continent, which calls for a significant reduction (40%) in cattle production. They invoke the climatic problem that the vaccinal farts generate.
Reports from Paraguayan and Mercosur technicians, meanwhile, maintain that the levels of affectation of this factor on the climate are well below other factors emitted by Europeans.
