Hugo Dijkgraaf, the company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), highlighted the following in the message: “This important discovery in the first exploration well operated by Wintershall Dea off the coast of Mexico is a great success.”

Wintershall Dea said that the oil well is located about 25 kilometers from the Tabasco coast, in a water depth of around 50 meters and within an area where other “world class” mega discoveries have been made, such as the Zama and Polok deposits.
The company also indicated that it will evaluate the subsoil data together with partners to prepare the work plan for the discovered site, which will be presented to the National Hydrocarbons Commission before the end of July 2023.
He recalled that, together with its partners, it operates block 30 (where the oil well is located) Wintershall Dea, 40%, Harbor Energy and Sapura OMV, with 30% each.
