They donate 264,000 cans of food very popular in Hawaii for the victims of the fires

In an effort to support the victims in Hawaii and in recognition of brand loyalty, Hormel Foods Corporation announced the shipment of three truckloads of 260,000 cans of Spam to help residents affected by the disaster.

It is a popular meat product in Hawaii for decades under the name Spam.

Jennesa Kinscher, Spam Brand Director, said, “The people of Hawaii hold a special place both in the history and at the heart of the Spam brand. Our donation efforts are just one way to show the community our love and support.”

In this initiative Hormel works in conjunction with Convoy of Hope, an organization dedicated to helping those affected by natural disasters to send donations, collects Telemundo 33.

For her part, Stacy Lamb, vice president of catastrophe services for Convoy of Hope, indicated that “we know how popular SPAM® products are, especially in Hawaii. This donation allows Convoy of Hope bring comfort to people whose lives have been turned upside down.”

They also created a specially designed t-shirt for Hawaii “Spam Brand Loves Maui” for the purpose of raising funds.

100% of the funds will go to the Aloha United Way’s Maui Fire Relief Fund for relief efforts on the island, the brand assured.

In a social media post, Spam says, “We have been speechless at the devastation taking place on Maui. To our ‘ohana in Maui, we see you and we love you. We have been working with our trusted partners on how we can help.”

He also points out that they have received support to be able to help the people of Hawaii. Thank you to one of our partners @Convoy of Hope who is quickly helping us get food to the island. We will continue to stay connected with our partners on the islands and ask all of our fans to continue to surround Maui with support and love.”

The History of Spam in Hawaii

According to Telemundo reports, each year in Hawaii they consume 7 million cans of Spam products, which are highly appreciated by the inhabitants of the archipelago.

This is the highest consumption of this product in the United States, which is estimated to have become popular during World War II, when this type of food was served to American soldiers.
