Mexico City.- The National Water Commission (Conagua) forecast heavy rains in the Gulf of Mexico and even conditions of whirlwinds and tornadoes in some states of the country.

The National Meteorological Service recalled that the 2023 Tropical Cyclone season will begin this Monday, so that this day heavy rains could be recorded in regions of Chiapas, Puebla, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas and Veracruz.

These rains could be accompanied by electric shocks, strong winds and possible hailstorms, and generate landslides, an increase in river and stream levels, overflows and flooding in low-lying areas of the aforementioned states.

While very heavy rains are forecast in areas of Chihuahua, Hidalgo, Oaxaca and Tabasco.

In the CDMX intervals of chubascos are expected, as well as Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, Sonora and Zacatecas.

On the other hand, gusts of wind of 60 to 80 kilometers per hour and the possible formation of whirlwinds or tornadoes are estimated in Chihuahua, Coahuila, the State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Puebla, Tlaxcala and Veracruz.

These conditions will be generated by the frontal system number 55 that will be located with stationary characteristics over the north of the Republic, as well as by low pressure channels extended over different regions of the country.

In addition, the hot to very hot environment will remain in the states of the Pacific coast, with maximum temperatures of 40 to 45 degrees Celsius in Chiapas, Guerrero, Michoacán and Oaxaca.

Mexico’s valley

In the Valley of Mexico, partly cloudy skies and a cool environment are expected at dawn, increased cloudiness in the afternoon, electric shocks and hail fall in rainy areas.

For Mexico City, a minimum temperature of 12 to 14 degrees Celsius is forecast, a maximum of 25 to 27 degrees Celsius and a west component wind of 10 to 20 kilometers per hour with gusts of up to 40 kilometers per hour, and in Toluca, capital of the State of Mexico, a minimum temperature of 5 to 7 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 22 to 24 degrees Celsius are expected, with gusts of 60 to 80 kilometers per hour in the state.
