The video in which the parishioners are lined up to receive the Eucharist has been disseminated through social networks and instead the ‘priest’ places a marijuana cigarette in their mouths.
The unusual moment was captured in one of the most important churches in the city of Hermosillo: El Santuario Guadalupano. This video has caused a lot of controversy on social networks where hundreds of users have expressed their feelings.
However, this ‘eucharistic act’ was nothing more than part of a clip from the new music video of the singer Erick Raúl Aleman Ramírez, better known as ‘Alemán’ who chose this church as a recording set.
“Yesterday a video of Alemán who came to record a music video began to circulate on social networks, in fact I authorized Alemán and his team to record that video in the facilities of our sanctuary,” explained the priest Luis Arming.
Elcesiástico in charge of said sanctuary expressed his feelings about the recordings of the singer, since he pointed out that there is nothing wrong with them, because just like television soap operas, series or programs that make use of the image of the church, musicians can also.
“Why can a person, how can he record, on December 12, mariachis, groups come in and he wanted to send a positive message. The doors are open as Pope Francis says and we are nobody to judge anyone’s life,” he said.
Pronounced ecclesiastical government
Faced with this situation, the Ecclesiastical Government of Hermosillo spoke on social networks through a statement, which indicates that the priest’s way of acting when accessing this type of recordings was ‘reckless’.
“We recognize that it was acted without ill will and intention, but recklessly, therefore Archbishop Ruy Rendón Leal and all our priests, offer a sincere apology to all the people of God of our archdiocese and all those who felt aggrieved in their faith,” the statement read.
Therefore, it indicates that they will assume the responsibility that this type of activities that are not related to the fundamental purpose of a church, are not repeated, since they are places of worship, prayer, devotion and piety.
