They guide immigrants on how to apply to obtain their driver's license as of July 1

Given the proximity of the start date for immigrants to obtain their driver’s license regardless of their immigration status, by virtue of the “Labor and Family Mobility Act” (WFMA)the Driving Families Forward Coalition as well as state leaders, transportation officials, and activists will offer important information related to the topic.

After many years of fighting by immigrant rights advocates, this law will allow residents without proof of immigration status to apply for driver’s licenses in Massachusetts beginning July 1.

During the event, scheduled for this Wednesday, members of the coalition and state officials will give important information on how residents can apply for a driver’s license with the required documents, avoiding scams.

Expected to be present are Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, RMV Registrar Colleen Ogilvie, Executive Director of the Center for Brazilian Workers and Co-Chair of Driving Families Forward, Lenita Reason, 32BJ SEIU Political Coordinator and Co-Chair. from Driving Families Forward, Chrystel Murrieta Ruiz and Mayra, a local resident who has benefited from the new law.
