They investigate crash and fire of a vehicle in Miami-Dade that left one injured

A suspect who was involved in a brutal crash in Miami-Dade after fleeing from officers was hospitalized Thursday morning, police said.

The incident began at about 8 a.m. when Bal Harbor police spotted a suspicious vehicle and requested backup, Miami-Dade police officials said.

A Miami-Dade officer responded and as they approached the vehicle, the driver sped off, according to police.

Officers did not pursue the vehicle, but moments later, it crashed in the area of ​​32nd Avenue and 37th Street in the Northwest (NW) and caught fire, police said.

Aerial images showed the vehicle, a white van, next to a truck as it caught fire.

Officers removed the person from the van and took him to Jackson Memorial Hospital in stable condition, according to police, who gave no other details, but said there were no other injuries.
