In two proceedings, members of the 13th Squadron of the National Gendarmerie seized contraband merchandise in Puerto Iguazú.

The first operation was carried out at the Urugua-í checkpoint, where 84 packages transported by a parcel company were seized.

The opening of the packages was carried out last Tuesday, by means of a requisition order from the Federal Court of the city of Eldorado. there it was possible to verify a total of 125 covers of different brands, sizes and models as well as 18 suitcases of different brands and sizes, all of foreign origin without the corresponding customs guarantee. The estimated value of the seized merchandise amounted to $1,800,000, detailed official sources of the Force.

The second procedure took place yesterday afternoon at an unauthorized border crossing, where a motorcyclist was transporting 100 liters of fuel in drums with the intention of taking it to the neighboring country of Brazil.

The operation was carried out as a result of a security and border surveillance tour, which the uniformed officers were carrying out, when a man was spotted on the side of Route 12 driving a motorcycle, through an unauthorized passage towards Brazil.

At the time of the control, it was possible to verify with the naked eye that it was transporting several boxes that contained seven drums with a total of 100 liters of fuel, in order to be sold in the Federative Republic of Brazil, with an approximate value of $200,000.

The seized merchandise was made available to the authorities of the AFIP-DGA Delegation of Puerto Iguazú.
