The group of citizen organizations Unid@s will present to the public opinion 13 candidates for the 2024 Presidential candidacy.

Through a forum that will take place on Monday and Tuesday on Coalition Governments, the possible candidates will have a presentation to talk about the different aspects of the next six-year period, there may be an Administration that represents the plurality of the Country and does not center on the presidential power of a single person.

The candidates who will participate in the event are those who have raised their hands in the PAN, PRI and PRD to be considered in the definition of the Opposition’s presidential candidacy, as well as political candidates without militancy.

It will be the first time that they all appear together in an event organized by organizations that are part of Unid@s such as the National Civic Front, Sí Por México, Poder Ciudadano, Civil Society México, Une México and United for México.

On Monday, the senators of the PRI, Claudia Ruiz Massieu and of the PAN, Lilly Téllez, as well as the PAN deputy Juan Carlos Romero Hicks, will open the forum with the theme “Coalition Government and Regime Change”, a panel that will be moderated by Diego Valadés and Mariclaire Acosta.

The second table of the day will be led by the PRI member Enrique de la Madrid Cordero, the former business leader Gustavo de Hoyos Walther and the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Santiago Creel Miranda, with the moderation of José Ramón Cossío Díaz and José Antonio Crespo.

The theme is “Coalition Government with a Constitutional Perspective.”

At the third table on Monday will be PRI senator Beatriz Paredes Rangel, former PRD member Demetrio Sodi de la Tijera and former Governor of Michoacán, Silvano Aureoles, of the PRD.

They are moderated by Luis Carlos Ugalde and Xóchitl Gálvez, with the theme “Civil Society in Coalition Government”.

For Tuesday the 18th, the first theme is “Public Security Policy in the Coalition Government”, in which the former Governor of Tamaulipas, Francisco Javier García Cabeza de Vaca, from the PAN; and the coordinator of the PRD in the Senate, Miguel Ángel Mancera Espinosa.

The moderators will be Guillermo Valdés Castellanos and Margarita Zavala.

The forum closes with the theme “Economic Policy in the Coalition Government”, with the candidates PRI deputy Ildefonso Guajardo and José Ángel Gurría Treviño, former leader of the OECD. Macario Schettino and Cecilia Soto will moderate.

The closing will be carried out by Federico Reyes Heroles.

By MC, the Governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro, and the Mayor of Monterrey, Luis Donaldo Colosio Riojas, were invited, but informed that they could not because they will be out of the country on those dates.

In recent weeks, the leader of the National Civic Front, Guadalupe Acosta Naranjo, spoke with each candidate to invite them to the forum, exposing the idea that society wants to participate in the decision of who will be the candidate of the opposition bloc.

In addition, he explained that there is a call for unity and that those who are not elected are expected to join the project and promote the Coalition Government proposal that will be raised in the presidential campaign.

The objective of the forum is to begin exposing to the public the candidates for the Presidency who could lead the opposition candidacy, because after the first half of this year political times are going to accelerate.

The groups insist that there be a method that takes citizens into account in the definition of the candidate, once the application is formalized by the political parties.
