Mexico City.- Victims, citizen organizations and feminist groups march towards the Zócalo of the capital to protest the accidents registered in the Metro Collective Transportation System, as well as the presence of the National Guard in the facilities.

For this reason, the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) reported that a surveillance operation is being carried out along the route of the #MovilidadSinMiedo march.

The scheduled route goes from the Angel of Independence to the capital’s Zócalo.

In it, the contingents will be accompanied by elements of the SSC to guarantee their safety.

The agency explained that the alternate routes for motorists will be: Circuito Interior, Avenida Chapultepec, Fray Servando, José María Izazaga, Eje 1 Norte, Eje 1 and Eje 3 Oriente.

This is due to the closure of streets such as Reforma in the East direction, Avenida Insurgentes, Juárez, Eje Central, 5 de Mayo and Plaza de la Constitución.

The preventive action will be supported by the video surveillance cameras of the Command, Control, Computing, Communications and Citizen Contact Center (C-5) and by the Command and Control Center (C-2) Center, to detect any situation that puts risk the physical integrity of the participants and the public in general.

Around 5:40 p.m., the local Government Secretary, Martí Batres, reported that the marches, the Yaretzi Memorial Walk and Fearless Mobility, are taking place without incident.

“Today’s marches, along Avenida Reforma, have passed without any setback so far,” he said through a Twitter account.

He pointed out that there is a presence of black blocks that cause destruction in different businesses in the Capital.

Yaretzi’s family participates

Family and friends of Yeretzi, who died in the accident on Line 3, between the Potrero and La Raza stations, on January 7, accompany the march to remember the young woman.

Arantza, Yaretzi’s best friend and who was injured in the train crash, participates in a wheelchair.

The contingent, which broke away from the march called by different groups against the militarization of the Metro, wears white shirts with the image of Yaretzi and yellow sunflowers.

The family’s lawyer assured that this walk is a separate event from the march against militarization and that its only purpose is to remember the memory of Yaretzi.

We are accompanying them so that the Metro accident is not forgotten and we bring the sunflowers because it was her favorite flower, I remember it as very pretty, very loving, she had a lot of love in her life and she showed it to everyone,” said Miriam Ceballos, Friend of the family.
