They reject agreements between the US and Cuba on drug trafficking

WASHINGTON.- The Center for a Cuba Libre denounced that given the overwhelming evidence of the Cuban regime’s management as a facilitator and part of drug trafficking to the United States, it is imprudent for the Joe Biden administration to seek real collaboration with Havana.

NBC journalist Andrea Mitchell reported that the current US government is collaborating with the Cuban regime in the fight against drug trafficking. In a comment on her Twitter account, Mitchell stressed that this collaboration occurs despite the cold relations between the two countries.

This declaration has generated controversy, since it has been documented that the Cuban regime has had historical links with drug trafficking, since the 1960s. Over the years, it has been pointed out that the Cuban regime has collaborated with drug cartels. drug trafficking, training guerrilla groups and facilitating the distribution of drugs from South and Central America.

In 1982, the island was included on the list of terrorist countries after State Department officials claimed that Cuba provided weapons to the M-19 terrorist group in exchange for facilitating drug smuggling into the United States.

The Center for a Free Cuba described this relationship with the US as reckless given the evidence that indicates the involvement of the Cuban regime in illegal activities. Several testimonies, documentaries and concrete facts support the idea that Cuba has been part of drug trafficking in the region.

Intimate relationship between Cuba and Venezuela

In 2015, Leamsy Salazar, former security chief of the Venezuelan dictatorship, accused the pro-government leader Diosdado Cabello of leading the “Cartel de los soles.” According to his testimony, Cuba facilitated some of the group’s illegal activities and the state company Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) provided its planes to transport drugs and the proceeds of laundered money. Up to the present, the Cuban state continues its ties with the narco-state that is Venezuela and with the Colombian narco-guerrillas, who are now in power.
