Broward police are actively searching for the sex offender of a 17-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted on Sunday afternoon while walking in the Pembroke Pines area, near Washington Avenue.
The teenager had left a shopping center in Flamingo and was walking home on a sidewalk parallel to the avenue and surrounded by trees on Sunday afternoon, when she was surprised by a man who covered her mouth, dragged her into the grove and abused herdetailed the police.
The suspect is described as a man dark-skinned Hispanic, between 20 and 30 years old. “He has dark hair and was wearing a white polo shirt and black jeans,” said the authorities, who launched a major operation in the area but were unable to find him.
Local residents expressed Local 10 their concern with this fact and a presumed lack of security in that area of South Florida.
“The Pembroke Pines Police Department is committed to protecting all members of our community, especially children“the police department said in a statement Monday morning, in which it asked for the community’s help in identifying the suspect.
