Mexico City.- During the inspection of a vehicle in El Marqués, Querétaro, municipal police officers seized firearms, useful cartridges and a Bengal tiger cub.

The event occurred on state highway 200-210, when police officers from the Municipal Public Safety and Transit Secretariat detected an offense committed by a citizen who was traveling with a woman.

They were called to a halt and, although they tried to flee, Manuel “N” and Orfelina “N” were arrested. 4 firearms and 98 useful cartridges were also seized.

The weapons and the detainees were placed at the disposal of the Querétaro Office of the Attorney General of the Republic, who in turn contacted the Environmental Protection Representation Office of the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa).

The attorney’s office guarded the puppy, approximately 3 months old and weighing 8 kilos, insured on December 27 by the Municipal Police.

This Thursday, Profepa reported that the specimen was transferred to a zoo that, it assured, has the authorizations issued by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat).
