The endless hell due to the lack of drinking water in the Region continues to mobilize neighborhoods, with measures of all kinds to which is now added a request for the declaration of the city in a state of water emergency.
Fed up by the lack of water in their homes, those who make up the Tolosa Neighborhood Assembly announced that they will present a note to the Governor of the Province, Axel Kicillof, where they request this measure in order to speed up responses of an extraordinary nature for a situation of crisis. They will attach the list of signatories that yesterday advanced at a sustained pace in one of the corners of Plaza Iraola, in the area of 2 and 530.
After legal arguments and street protests, this request derives from the fact that “ABSA company does not comply with the service and does not give the consideration” for the payments of the invoices made by the users.
In addition, it was added from the neighborhood entity that what leads them to present said note, are “all the claims received from the neighbors and the suffering from such temperatures that our children, grandparents and neighbors suffer due to the lack of the vital element to cool off, sanitize and most importantly, hydrate.”
To this end, the Assembly launched the campaign yesterday and it will continue today, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The petition will also be available tomorrow and Tuesday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., always at the intersection of 2 and 530.
They hope to add the signatures of front members from other towns and affected neighborhoods in Casco. “The goal is for the request to take as much force as possible based on the magnitude of the problem we are having,” said a spokesperson for the initiative.
Although Tolosa is the first town in this type of movement, it is not the only area in which there are problems with the water service.
In Villa Elvira, for their part, a group of neighbors took to the streets to protest the day before yesterday for the same situation.
The network failure scandal appears among the most recurring concerns in the Region. In homes, the discomfort due to low pressure grows, in cases, for entire days and weeks.
It is more serious for other residents, who are unable to get more than air from the tap and with that they are prevented from essential actions such as hydrating, sanitizing or keeping their homes in good condition with sustained temperatures that have already generated several heat waves in the last two months.
The anger intensifies at points where they wait for water inside and see losses in the street. On Friday, ABSA made progress with the repair of the trunk pipe that runs under Calle 50, in El Bosque.
The fissures had been going on for several weeks. It had been indicated that the task could lower the flow in a good part of Casco and areas of Ensenada and Berisso. Around the end of the afternoon it was reported that the service was beginning to normalize.
