Norma, together with a relative, alluded to the robbery to their neighbors / Demian Alday

In a serious episode of insecurity, a retired inspector commissioner, almost 60 years old, was shot and wounded while he was watching television with his 58-year-old wife in the living room of their house in Arana. The tranquility of that moment, unfortunately for the couple, was completely disrupted. Nothing less than a bloody case of insecurity.

It is that around 10 pm on Thursday, two young criminals broke into that house, located at 137 and 618 streets. Hooded and with at least one firearm.

And in a terrifying sequence, there were screams, a struggle with a rifle butt to the head of the homeowner, two shots – one of which hit the victim’s left thigh – robbery and the subsequent escape of the assailants.

Immediately, the retired policeman’s wife asked neighbors for help and a 911 call alerted members of the Patrol Command and the Arana police detachment about what had happened.

A few minutes later, the police delegation arrived at the scene, as did a SAME ambulance, which took the injured man to the San Martín hospital, where he was hospitalized yesterday.

Police sources reported that the retired inspector received “a shot from a firearm in his left thigh, with an entry and exit hole.” He also made sure that, in any case, his life would not be in danger.

DRAMATIC MOMENTS

About how it was that both criminals attacked at that address, it was officially reported that “they arrived for the funds and broke a door.”

It was also indicated that, then, the owner of the house ran to a piece of furniture, where he kept a 9-millimeter Bersa brand pistol, to eventually use it in self-defense and that of his wife.

It was mentioned that the criminals pounced on him, a struggle ensued and the victim of the assault ended up receiving a rifle butt to the head and a bullet to said leg. It was even cited that they fired a second shot: it destroyed a mirror in the corridor of the house.

With the ex-policeman wounded and beaten and his wife terrified, these thieves began to steal everything of interest to them.

The same spokesmen cited that they seized the victim’s pistol, an unspecified amount of cash, cell phones and documentation of the victims.

After several minutes of sowing panic in the house, the criminals escaped through the back, in the direction of 138th Street.

Despite the rakes that were carried out a while later in the area, they are still at large. But among the pastures of the place, the policemen seized a 38-caliber revolver discarded in the escape by the assailants. Also a box with ammunition.

“WE HEAR TWO SHOTS AND SCREAMING”

Norma, a neighbor of the damaged couple, told EL DIA yesterday afternoon that “we were at home and around 10 at night we heard two shots and screams.”

“Later on, a woman from the neighborhood reported on the WhatsApp group that the house of our neighbors had been robbed,” he added.

He also commented that “this couple has lived here since 2016 and it is the first time they have suffered a robbery.” But he explained that “since last year the area has been experiencing burglaries at homes and businesses.”
