A father and his son, 72 and 33 years respectively, resisted a robbery on Sunday night in the city of Zárate and were shot to death. They believe that the criminal who ended up killing them had the information of the supposed payment for a harvest that the victims would have received, although he finally fled without taking anything.
The double crime took place after 22:30 in a rural house located in a field dedicated to the production of strawberries. According to the reconstruction, the thief ran into Jonatan, the younger of the two victims, in the courtyard of the villa but, although he threatened him with a weapon to demand the money, he struggled with him and was shot in the head. face.
The dramatic sequence was noticed by his mother, who began to scream for help and alerted her husband, Venancio, who immediately left the house in defense of his son.
The offender opened fire again at the man, who fell to the ground shot with a bullet impact in the eye and a second projectile in his left shoulder. Then, the defendant approached the woman, whom he also intimidated into giving him the money.
After several tense minutes, the victim’s wife and mother managed to convince the subject that he had nothing to give him and the offender fled. Minutes later, the two men who were shot were taken in a private van to the Zonal de Zárate hospital, where the doctors could no longer do anything to save them.
According to the first data that emerged in the case, despite the fact that Venancio’s wife denied that they had money in the house, at least 500,000 pesos in cash were found at the scene, which, according to speculation, the victims had received from a recent harvest .
This was confirmed by a source close to the case to Télam, who also pointed out that the event happened in a dark, open area, so there are no other eyewitnesses or security cameras.
So far, only one employee of the place was delayed and his cell phone seized to be examined for contradictions in his story, although the investigators ruled out that he had participated in the event.
