In an oversight of the opponents who had taken the rostrum, the president of the Senate, Alejandro Armenta, slipped into the Board of Directors, took the microphone and called a session for tomorrow at 1:00 p.m., due to “lack of conditions.”

Morena played crookedly to the opposition benches: her boss, Ricardo Monreal, had agreed to promote the appointment of Ricardo Salgado as INAI commissioner in plenary session, but at the mere hour, after a ballot vote, the electronic board had a record 67 votes against and 43 votes in favour.

The senators from the opposition bloc jumped from their seats and, in a heartbeat, occupied the rostrum with a slogan: “Trans-pa-rencia! Trans-pa-rencia!”

Opponents unfurled two giant banners: “INAI today! Commissioners now!”

There were screams and struggles between morenistas and panistas. Lucía Trasviña tried to snatch one of her blankets but the panistas held her tight.

Seeing the disorder, the president of the Senate, Alejandro Armenta, was forced to leave the rostrum. The morenistas later withdrew from the room, but the rostrum was still taken.

Half an hour later, Armenta went up to the rostrum to call a session tomorrow, Friday at 13:00.

A small group of opponents stayed to protect the stands. PAN member Xóchitl Gálvez and Gustavo Madero and Emilio Álvarez Icaza, from the Plural Group, announced that they will stay to “defend the rostrum of the Senate of the Republic” to prevent Morena from trying to get up early.
