A woman from Granada filed a complaint as the alleged victim of a scam of at least 170,000 euros by a person who posed as the renowned American actor Brad Pitt.

As he told this Thursday EFE the lawyer Antonio Estella Aroza, from the Esya Legal firm, “the cornerstone of everything was feelings and trying to make her believe that there was a relationship.”

It all started in 2022 when the middle-aged woman and recent beneficiary of an inheritance (the only data that has been given to her), joined a supposed Brad Pitt fan club on Facebook.

Over time and several interactions on the social network, the alleged scammer, posing as the actor, managed to earn his trust and establish a friendship that later evolved into a relationship “analogous” to that of a couple.

The scammer began asking for money under various pretenses, including a possible trip to Granada by the fake Brad Pitt and the woman’s participation in a movie.

The woman made several transfers of up to 30,000 euros at the same time to various accounts in Spanish and European banks.

The scam lasted for more than a year, in which she received photomontages, addressed directly to her or supposedly attending red carpets, as well as messages of affection (written in poor Spanish) to convince her that she was in a relationship with the real Brad Pitt.

The scam reached such a point that the woman came to believe that she would marry the actor.

When he saw that the promises were not kept, he became suspicious until he finally went to a lawyer.

The complaint, filed in a Granada court, has been for alleged fraud, identity theft – about the actor – and money laundering.
