“We are working with the financial system, with public banks first, to see if we can take out a line of mortgage credit that is adjustable for salary”affirmed the head of the Argentine Ministry of Territorial Development and Habitat, santiago maggiottiand thus confirmed that the Argentine Government is working on a low-cost option to help those interested in realizing the dream of having their own home.

The minister maintained that, to achieve this, “some regulations that the Central Bank has on this subject would have to be modified.”

Speaking on the radio futurerockthe official remarked that they are trying to “promote the construction of housing in urban development, because building a house costs around 700 dollars per square meter, and when one goes to buy, the seller asks for 1,500 or 2,000 dollars per square meter.”

“For a worker it is much cheaper to buy a house from an urban development that the State has or to build the house” than to buy it in the real estate marketthe official added. And he maintained that “when one promotes the construction of housing, not only does the family benefit, but it provides a lot of employment and economic reactivation; it is a policy that attacks three important issues.”

Along these lines, he pointed out: “We have already delivered homes to almost 77,000 families and we have 148,000 more homes under construction. We have the budget to finish those homes.” In addition, he explained that the Ministry has a budget of $360 billion this year and recalled that in 2020 a budget of $290 billion began and $320 billion ended up being executed. “We had more budget than what had been budgeted and this year the same thing will happen,” he said.
