Wet hair is particularly sensitive. How to protect them after washing.

Berlin – Anyone who combs their hair immediately after washing it often has a hard time. The hair is unruly and feels rough. The reason: the water and the friction that occurs when shampooing roughen the cuticle layer of the individual hairs. They not only get tangled up in each other, but can also be easily damaged when combing through.

If you want to prevent this, you should use a conditioner after every or every second hair wash, advises the “Haut.de” portal. The products, which are also known as conditioners or hair balms, supply the outer cuticle layer of the hair with proteins and care substances – and thus smooth the hair surface. The comb can then slide through the hair more easily – and leaves less damage.

Massage in like a shampoo or spray

Conditioners are either massaged in briefly like a shampoo after washing and washed out again after a maximum of five minutes. But they are also available as sprays that are sprayed into damp hair and are not washed out. For subsequent combing, it is best to use a wide-toothed comb or a brush with widely spaced teeth.

By the way: Do not rub your hair dry with a towel after washing. This also roughens their surface. It is better to just gently squeeze them out with a cloth. dpa
