This scary thriller with two huge series stars has been a hit since its arrival in France

For the past few days, a new series has been a hit on Prime Video. Very short, it plunges us into an anxiety-provoking future. A chilling post-apocalyptic vision. For this, it relies on stars that you have necessarily already seen somewhere.

What will happen tomorrow ? What scary scenario can we envision for our future as human beings? Lately more than usual, the question torments the screenwriters and directors of series. If the creators of The Last of Us, the video game adaptation, bets on a pandemic based on a destructive fungus, the state of our planet is also of great concern. This is partly what the directors of Last Light wanted to build their mini-series. The five episodes, available on Prime Video since March 3, have already won over some Amazon subscribers. The series is sixth in the top of the platform. We follow the history of the Yeats family. Andy, the father, is a petrochemical scientist. Her son is in desperate need of an eye operation, only available in Paris. Problem: the world is falling apart. Suddenly, the oil stopped working. This fuel supposed to run vehicles, and the world, no longer fulfills its function. Andy must therefore go to work to try to understand where the problem comes from and to solve it, while his family is also in crisis.

Last Light on Prime Video: an actor from Lost found the way to the plateaus

This particularly anxiety-provoking story for those who fear what could happen to a planet on which fossil fuels are disappearing – an end that is also announced – is carried by extremely famous actors. Andy Yeats, the main character is played by Matthew Fox. If this name doesn’t mean anything to you, it’s probably because you weren’t, unlike half the planet, a fan of Lost. Between 2004 and 2010, the 56-year-old actor played Jack Shephard among the castaways of Oceanic Flight 815. Last light marks his return to television since the end of this successful series, the end of which had caused a lot of ink to flow.

Very famous scientists

In his mission to save the world as we know it, Andy Yeats is assisted by other brilliant scientists, notably Karl Bergmann, played by Tom Wlaschiha. The German actor is known for portraying Jaqen H’ghar in Game of Thrones or the Russian guard Dmitri Antonov, in the last season of Stranger Things. For this thoughtful casting – Andy Yeats’ wife Elena is played by ex-star Joanne Froggatt Downtown Abbey – this miniseries is worth watching.
