Game News This streamer sets a record on Mario 64… without a controller!

An emblematic character of Nintendo, and even of video games, Mario has marked several generations of players, like Super Mario 64 which made the heyday of Nintendo 64 at the end of the 90s. wrinkles, however, as it remains the challenge for many speedrunners and other players, just like this streamer who has just set a new record.

New record for a timeless game

Originally released in 1997 for the Nintendo 64, Super Mario 64 was immensely successful, so much so that it is the best-selling game not only for the Nintendo 64, but also for the entire fifth generation of consoles. A landmark game whose glory has continued over the years with a first remake on Nintendo DS in 2005 before reappearing in an optimized version on Switch through the Super Mario 3D All-Stars compilation in September 2020.

But from the top of his 25 years, the Nintendo 64 version does not have time to gather dust because the game retains a certain popularity, especially in the world of speedrunningas evidenced by one of the latest exploits, established last August. Moreover, today, Super Mario 64 is the subject of a new particularly unusual world record…

No controller needed!

Like singer and musician Anna Ellsworth or streamer Miss Mikkaa on Elden Ring, a streamer named CZR didn’t need a controller to beat Super Mario 64 in less than 20 minutes. Indeed, CZR is a speedrunner known to have specialized in completing video games with a battery. It is therefore after 2 and a half years of relentlessly beating the rhythm on this musical instrument directly mounted on a Nintendo 64 that the young man signs a new world record of 19 minutes and 48 seconds to finish the game with 16 stars. We also let you discover everything in pictures through the video below and in which the musician shows us his talent in game but also between two sequences of gameplay with some musical jingles.

A record of which CZR is particularly proud as he specifies in response to the tweet of Jake Lucky who relayed his prowess on the social network.

But he does not intend to stop there… Super Mario Bros. 3, GoldenEye 007, Minecraft or The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask are among the next games planned for the speed-drum program.
