ThisIsBlindTest brings together several places all over France to offer blind test competitions based on voice recognition made possible thanks to its iPhone application.
“Tech has come to disrupt practices”; says Mikaël Lavollé, co-founder of ThisIsBlindTest. His company has two blind test rooms in Paris and licenses throughout France. Its specificity? A competition based on voice recognition thanks to smartphones.
6000 tracks, 60 playlists and 5 difficulty levels, everything looks like classic karaoke. Yet Mikaël Lavollé wanted to combine competition and celebration by offering blind test games, this game where you have to guess the title and the performer of a song.
Thus, each player is equipped with an iPhone provided by the company. While music is playing, participants must press a button on the phone to activate voice recognition. The player can give all the answers that come to mind.
Referee Technology
As a result, no cheating is possible since it is the voice recognition system that decides and decides who gave the correct answer. No more need for a moderator or a referee. As soon as the correct answer is found, the chorus starts automatically “so after the competition the party comes”. It is above all a game of speed, so the faster the player, the more points he earns. This gives rise at the end to a general classification.
This device is possible thanks to the application that the company has developed for two years. Its technology is based on hardware for the microphone and software for the application.
Next step, the players’ lounges. ThisIsBlindTest launches in a few weeks the application available for a digitized board game. “It was a request from our players,” says the co-founder.
