Borussia Mönchengladbach has fallen well short of expectations this season. “We are very dissatisfied with the way the season has gone since the World Cup break and we need to push ahead with the restructuring of the squad.”, sporting director Roland Virkus said recently. There was no support or a clear commitment to a future with coach Daniel Farke.
According to ‘Bild’, potential successors to the eleventh place in the table are already being discussed. With Ralph Hasenhüttl and Gerardo Seoane, the group of candidates includes two coaches who already have Bundesliga experience. Hasenhüttl worked for RB Leipzig until 2018, followed by four years at FC Southampton in the Premier League. Seoane coached Bayer Leverkusen for a little over a year.
The tabloid named Eugen Polanski as a third option. The former professional is currently training the U23 foals in the Regionalliga West. Gladbach are definitely planning to have Polanski as head coach for the future, but whether he should immediately follow Farke is still a matter of debate.
