Three men drown on a Florida beach

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Florida—Three Alabama men drowned on a northwest Florida beach, authorities said Saturday. The young people arrived in the Panama City Beach area on Friday, Bay County police reported on Facebook.

Police received an emergency call about the swimmers shortly after 8 p.m., officials said. The Coast Guard and others began rescue efforts. The men, whose names have not been released, were found and eventually pronounced dead in hospitals.

Earlier this week, red flags were posted on the beach, indicating high-risk surf conditions and rip currents.

On Thursday, a Pennsylvania couple visiting Florida He and his six children drowned after getting caught in a rip current while swimming. The man and woman were trapped in the current on Hutchinson Island, in southeastern Florida, Martin County police reported on Facebook.
