I’ve been on the road with a cordless vacuum cleaner from Tineco for a long time. In the meantime, not only Roborock has released a new suction wiper with the Dyad Pro (here is our test report), Tineco has also launched the Tineco Floor One S7 Pro presented a new model. Reason enough to take a closer look at the whole thing.

This is a first for me, because when wiping, I mainly rely on manual tools, since most wiping robots cannot do all the work here. The One S7 Pro is the successor to the One S5 Pro 2 and a lot has changed, at least on paper.

The manufacturer specifies a weight of 5 kilograms and a nominal power of 230 watts for the cleaning aid. The motor itself: brushless (DC). The manufacturer puts the built-in battery at 3,900 mAh. A charge takes between 4 and 5 hours. When cleaning, the vacuum cleaner operates at an operating volume of 78 dBA. In addition to vacuuming, the model can also wipe (at the same time), as mentioned. Therefore, in addition to the dirty water tank with a volume of 0.72 liters, a tank for fresh water with 0.85 liters is also installed.

Unpacked and set up

In the course of the initial setup, the suction cup must first be put together. This allows compact packaging dimensions, which I would also like to emphasize positively at this point. To do this, the handle must engage. Another floor roller is included as a spare part. In terms of workmanship, everything on the Floor One S7 Pro is at the usual high level, and there was nothing to complain about with other products from the Tineco portfolio either.

As with other Tineco products, the 3.6-inch (approx. 9 cm) display immediately stands out after unpacking. This not only guides you through the setup procedure, but also shows information about the cleaning mode and helps with troubleshooting. As part of the setup process, the vacuum cleaner can be paired with an app via Wi-Fi (only 2.4 GHz). Do you need that? Probably less, as I already explained in the test report on the cordless vacuum cleaner. You can only view cleaning logs, call up the charging status or carry out firmware updates – but there were none during my test period.

The practical test: sucked off and wiped off

So let’s try it out: Caschy calls them the “class 7 driving license – irons and other sliding vehicles”. The battery is charged, the fresh water tank is removed from the back and filled up, a few drops of cleaning agent are added and you’re good to go. The vacuum wiper also recognizes whether the containers are correctly inserted. Tineco recommends the vacuum cleaner for hard floors, in my case parquet and tiles. The cleaning agent is added directly to the fresh water tank, there is no automatic dosing, as is the case with competing products. Before the first cleaning cycle, however, I muted the voice output of the vacuum cleaner. My vacuum wiper doesn’t necessarily have to talk to me, albeit optionally in German.

The vacuum cleaner can also stand without the base station included in the scope of delivery. It is switched on with the power button. If the joint is then “overstretched”, the vacuum cleaner automatically switches on the cleaning mode. The automatic switch-on is both a blessing and a curse. If the angle between the handle and the suction cup is too large, for example because you push it a little flatter under a piece of furniture, then depending on the angle, it can also switch off. Otherwise: The operation is very simple. You can use the buttons to zap through the different cleaning modes. In Max mode, the roller rotates at 450 revolutions per minute to remove even stubborn dirt. There are four cleaning modes:

  • Auto mode: automatically adjusts suction power and water flow)
  • Max mode: maximum power and water flow for stubborn dirt
  • suction mode: deactivates the water jet and sucks up wet dirt.
  • Ultra mode: electrolyzes tap water (deep cleaning of hard floors)

Unlike its predecessor, the brush now goes to the edge and thus cleans without a large distance to the wall.

During my rounds through the apartment, one thing immediately struck me: the distance to the wall of the predecessor, which André also criticized in his test report at the time, has been reduced. The distance to the wall is now smaller, according to the manufacturer 1 centimeter on both sides. Seems even less, in my eyes therefore completely in order. But you don’t win a price compared to the competition. What I really like is the smart sensor. It reliably detects dust and automatically adjusts the water flow, roller speed and suction power as required. Thanks to the automatic system, the specified running time of around 40 minutes is achieved.

In Max mode, you can quickly bring the vacuum cleaner to its limits, which is already half the specified running time. What the sensor cannot do, the naked eye does, supported by practical lighting on the front. I would also like to briefly mention here: The battery is not replaceable. On the one hand, this means no quick change to the spare battery and further cleaning and even in the event of a defect, you will probably be left behind.

The bi-directional drive has proven to be practical. This detects on the rear wheels whether you are pushing the wiper forward or pulling it back and supports you when driving forwards or backwards. This makes cleaning with such a 5-kilo colossus easier, but you really have to try it yourself. You can quickly walk through the apartment and everything is vacuumed, wiped and almost immediately dry again by sucking up the dirty water. You just indicate the direction with slight movements, and then it “runs itself”.

The wet vacuum cleaner uses electrolysis to prepare the water in such a way that, in case of doubt, you no longer need any cleaning agents. This was already integrated in the predecessor and actually brings better results with light soiling. However, the Max mode is more efficient, which loosens the dirt on the ground better thanks to the stronger rotating brushes. However, you can also do without cleaning agents for the weekly cleaning – protects the environment and your wallet.

A charging station is available during the charging process. It also has space for accessories. You can flush the ward with clean water at the touch of a button (self-cleaning). Nevertheless, some of the cleaning work (hair, etc.) gets stuck on people. Emptying the dirty water tank without spilling anything also proved to be not very practical. Due to the design, because the tank has an inlet for the dirty water at the bottom. Depending on the fill level and the angle at which you hold the tank, a few drops will come out at the bottom. clumsy.

The dirty water tank, which is built into the front, was not always practical.

Conclusion? Practical bidirectional drive, but no price-performance winner

If you choose the Tineco Floor One S7 Pro, you have to dig deep into your pocket at 799 euros. This makes the model comparatively expensive, even if you look at the direct predecessor model. And I would also say that the previous model is at least as good when it comes to cleaning results. You really have to think twice about whether this justifies the hefty surcharge. The new model is certainly not a price-performance winner, so you should rather target the Roborock Dyad Pro. It also has two rotating brushes. Of course, there are definitely innovations to offer in terms of details (compared to the previous model). There is, for example, the smaller distance from the wall or the support provided by the rear wheels when driving forwards and backwards.

However, one thing is certain for me after the test report: For the time being, I will no longer send out a vacuum and wiping robot until something has happened again technically. A robot can continue to carry out the daily vacuuming process. But when wiping, such a cleaning helper completely outstrips it. Practical with the Tineco Floor One S7 Pro: I don’t have to send my vacuum robot through in advance, because it just does the vacuuming and wiping in one “wash”. But it’s only something for once a week, because the vacuum cleaner itself also needs to be cleaned properly.
