The past few weeks have not only been the release of Hogwarts legacybut also JK Rowling and a boycott of the game often discussed topics. After all, in recent years the author has attracted negative attention not only with statements hostile to trans on Twitter, but also, for example, with the financial support of an organization that explicitly excludes trans women. So what if I want to embark on a magical journey but don’t want to spend money on a Harry Potter product? An upcoming role-playing game with a pixel look could possibly provide the answer.

Witchbrook – magic school adventure without Rowling

Studio Chucklefish has been working on a title called Witchbrook for some time. The role-playing game, which Gamesradar uses for example Stardew Valley is compared, was announced in 2017 and also sends you to a magic school.

The players should at the eponymous Witchbrook College develop one’s magical abilities, such as attending classes, achieving ranks in college, or completing quests. However, the overworld is not limited to the college itself. After all, you should have the opportunity, even in the city Mossport interact with NPCs, buy items or challenge fellow students to a broom race.

A big focus should be placed on the social component of the game. For example, Chucklefish advertises the possibility of building not only friendships but also romantic relationships with the cast in the role-playing game. Of course, the visual design of your own character or your own place of residence should not be missing either.
