As a child, Reece Thompson took on a small role in James Cameron’s Titanic. He still gets paid for it to this day. Recently, however, the payments have not materialised.

Reece Thompson was only five years old when he starred in the 1997 film Titanic with a heartbreaking scene played into the hearts of the audience. Director James Cameron’s period drama starred Thompson with Jenette Goldstein, who played his Irish mother.

In “Titanic” he only said one sentence

As a child, Reece Thompson appeared in Titanic.

He only had one sentence to say. As the cabin of the sinking ship slowly filled with water, the boy asked: “What are we doing, mommy?” His mother’s response: “We’re just waiting, honey. When they’re done putting the first class people in the boats, they’ll start with us. And we want to be ready, don’t we?”

As is well known, things turned out differently and most of the third class passengers found themselves in the Titanic her wet grave. But for Reece Thompson, his small role should pay off for a long time.

Reece Thompson is still entitled to royalties

How “msn.com” reported, Thompson, who now serves as a director of digital marketing in Utah, still checks – at least theoretically. There is a small problem:

In an interview with Australian broadcaster Network 10, Thompson confirmed he’s still owed a regular payment. However, he already has for many years no more money received. The reason: He has moved and has not yet updated his address. Should he catch up, Thompson believes in the outstanding checks: “I just assume that they will come.”

Titanic cast earns between $200 and $300 annually

Most recently, in 2018, Thompson had a conversation with “businessinsider.com” talked about his fee. At the time he explained that he was for his film role about $30,000 have received. Added to this would be the royalties, which spread over the year between 200 and 300 US dollars (about 180 to 270 euros).

“It’s weird because I’m not aware of it anymore,” the former child star explained, adding, “It’s not like, ‘Oh, when do I get another Titanic check?’ When it happens it’s like ‘Oh cool, $100 extra.’“If Thompson decides to finally tell those responsible about his change of address, he can probably look forward to a bigger windfall.
