For the past few days, the cold, the rains and the snow have made their big comeback in Algeria, this long-awaited winter season is finally setting in.
And like every winter season, some regions of Algeria see heavy snowfall, which can lead to road closures after heavy snowfall accumulation. This is the case for several wilayas of the country, during this weekend.
Indeed, according to the official page of the National Gendarmerie which gives news of the Algerian roads, several are cut off to traffic because of the snow.
In a publication from the “Tariki” Facebook page dating from this Saturday morning, two wilayas are affected by these road traffic cuts: Tizi Ouzou and Bouira.
Roads closed at Tizi Ouzou
National road No. 15 linking the wilayas of Bouira and Tizi Ouzou, more precisely at the level of the Tirourda pass in the municipality of Ifrhounene, is closed due to the accumulation of snow.
The path of the wilaya linking the wilayas of Béjaïa and Tizi-Ouzou, exactly at the level of the Chellata pass of the municipality of Iferhounene, is closed due to accumulation of #snow.
While the RN 30 linking Tizi-Ouzou to Bouira is also blocked at the Col de Tizi N’Kouilal in the Iboudrarene commune, for the same reason, the same source added.
In addition, the National Road 33 which connects the wilaya of Tizi-Ouzou to that of Bouira, is closed by snow at the height of the plateau of Aswel under the municipality of Ait Boumehdi, reports the communication cell of the gendarmerie.
What about the wilaya of Bouira?
The national road n°15, making the connection between the communes of Aghbalou (Bouira) and Ifrhounene (Tizi Ouzou), exactly at the level of the Col Tirourda of the commune of Aghbalou, is closed due to accumulation of snow.
Finally, the national road n°33 which makes the connection between the communes of Bouira and Ouassif (Tizi Ouzou), exactly at the level of the region of Tikjda and Tirourda, the commune of Al-Asnam, is closed for the same reason.
