Topsoe A/S, a Danish developer and supplier of decarbonization technologies, catalysts and services for the energy transition, and Fidelis New Energy, LLC, a US energy transition company, have entered into a global alliance on the technologies used to produce carbon-neutral hydrogen. The alliance combines Topsoe’s portfolio of hydrogen production processes with FidelisH2 technology to reduce lifecycle carbon emissions associated with hydrogen production. Combined, the alliance solution enables the production of hydrogen from natural gas with a life-cycle carbon intensity of 0 kgCO2e/kgH2.

The production of decarbonized products, materials and fuels through proven technologies such as Topsoe Blue Portfolio and FidelisH2 is an important contribution to decarbonizing carbon-intensive sectors of society, including industry, digital infrastructure, agriculture, energy and transport. Topsoe and Fidelis are committed to continuing to play a role in this important area, accelerating the energy transition and delivering life-cycle carbon-neutral hydrogen from a combination of renewables and natural gas.

Collaboration to support industry energy transition

Fidelis and Topsoe will jointly and exclusively license FidelisH2 and Topsoe’s blue hydrogen technology portfolio. Topsoe will engage with potential licensors interested in utilizing FidelisH2 to produce carbon-neutral hydrogen on a global scale using proven technology.

Henrik Rasmussen, Managing Director of Topsoe Americas, said: “This is an exciting partnership that will lead us to net zero emissions by 2050. I look forward to working with Fidelis to set even higher standards in transitional energy technologies. With this alliance, we can offer proven and superior carbon-neutral hydrogen solutions to our customers across all industrial sectors.”

Dan Shapiro, co-founder and CEO of Fidelis, said: “We are excited to partner with Topsoe, a leading supplier of hydrogen production technology and catalysts. After several years of working with Topsoe on leadership, catalysts and technology, we Excited to officially partner with them through this global alliance agreement to deliver the use of Topsoe’s Blue Portfolio and novel innovation FidelisH2Carbon-neutral hydrogen produced by the process. “

Fidelis co-founder and COO Bengt Jarlsjo added: “We look forward to deploying FidelisH2 in our future projects.™, and provide other select users with access to zero-carbon-intensity clean hydrogen from certified natural gas and renewable energy sources. “

Delivering scalable solutions for low-carbon hydrogen production

Topsoe’s industry-leading portfolio of hydrogen production processes includes steam methane reformation and SynCOR automated thermal reformation solutions for hydrogen production with integrated carbon capture. FidelisH2 is a proprietary solution for integrating renewable energy into transformative processes for clean hydrogen production. The novel integration of these proven technologies delivered by the alliance enables a scalable solution well suited to form valuable climate and environmental incentives, such as the 45V tax credit provided for in the US Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 .
