Up to and including April 30, Uppsala Stadsmission is on site in Gränby center to receive everything from costumes to party shoes and student gifts. Everything will then be donated to young people aged 13-19 who cannot afford to buy prom clothes themselves.

– Some go home to their parents and say they don’t want to go, just because they know their parents can’t afford it, says Peter Andersson who is director of Uppsala Stadsmission.

“Talking about how expensive the student is”

Peter Andersson has contact with the young people at Unga station Uppsala, which is part of the City Mission, and there he believes that it is common to talk about how expensive it is to graduate.

– I think it’s sad that not all young people can take part in this holiday, that it becomes a cost issue, he says.

In the clip above, he tells more and shows which clothes it has received so far.
