Elected favorite hiking trail of the French in 2023, the Suisse Normande delights walking enthusiasts, who have the choice between two and six days of itinerary.
Breathtaking panoramas, to make you dizzy. Gorges, rocky and wooded massifs: this is the Suisse Normande. Little known to the general public, the footpath on horseback between the Orne and Calvados has just won the competition for the favorite long-distance footpath of the French. The regulars of this GR have mobilized to make it win. The 100km of trail are accessible to all, in one day of walking or six days for the complete tour.
Striking views
The path passes in front of the facade of a castle burnt down by the German occupants in 1944. After a 15 km walk, at the Rochers de la Houle, you can admire the Orne below. And this is only the beginning: one more effort and another striking view is offered to the Rochers des Parcs and its viaduct. Requests for information flock to the tourist office. Along the way, reservations are up, but hikers are just passing through. After a more peaceful passage, it climbs up to the Roche d’Oëtre. Steep slopes, rocky escarpments: the Suisse Normande keeps its promises.
