Nine tourists Aliens were rescued by a cargo ship after their boat failed 171 nautical miles from Women Islandfor which they were transferred to the mainland in order to verify that they were in good health.

The six men and three women were sailing along the entire coast of the island when the smaller boat failed, but being several kilometers from the shore, they were unable to establish contact with the authorities; however, due to the delay in appearing, a Defender-type ship from the Naval Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance Station (ENSAR) was sent.

Elements of the Coast Guard of the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), provided assistance to the crew of foreign origin, who were sent to a special room, where they received medical attention and their personal data was taken.

Semar confirmed that the boat could be found 13 kilometers north of Isla Mujeres, in addition to reiterating that none of the passengers suffered health problems, despite the fact that they were at sea for several hours.

In order to rule out that it was an illegal event, the crew members were taken to the Puerto Juárez Naval Station, where they were made available to personnel from the National Institute of Migration (INM), who once again collected their information.
