Toyota is preparing a package of novelties for Brazil in 2023, and the main one, the GR Corolla, already has a set date to arrive, according to our WM1 friends: July.

The hatch and sports version of the most prominent model from the Japanese automaker, future rival of the Honda Civic Type R, will have as its main attraction the mechanical assembly prepared by Gazoo Racing, Toyota’s sports division, which has already presented the Brazilian market in 2023 with the new generation of the Hilux GR-Sport.

The Toyota GR Corolla will have a look and performance worthy of a track car: the engine will be a 1.6 turbo 3-cylinder gasoline engine, which will work together with a 6-speed manual transmission. The set will deliver 304hp of power and 37.7 kgf/m of torque to whoever is behind the wheel.

As in the United States, the GR Corolla will be offered to Brazilian consumers in two versions: Normal and Circuit Edition, the latter more complete, full of options.

Toyota GR Corolla will be “for the few”

If you were excited with the confirmation of the arrival of the Toyota GR Corolla in Brazil for July, there are two reasons to curb your excitement: the first of them is about the availability of the sports hatch.

According to WM1 staff, Toyota wants to give the car an air of exclusivity and, because of that, would have decided to limit the package that will be sold in Brazil to a maximum of 50 units – without specifying how many of each version.

The second limiting factor is the price: although there is no official confirmation, the Toyota Corolla prepared by Gazoo Racing should not cost less than R$ 400 thousand, an amount that will possibly make the spicy hatch a car aimed at a very specific public, owner a better financial condition.
