A violent accident occurred this Wednesday, and two Argentines died and seven other people were injured in a head-on collision between two cars.
Two of the injured, also Argentines, had to be rescued from the cars by the Firefighters and were urgently transferred to the Cantegrill Sanatorium in Punta del Este with polytrauma.
The event took place during noon in the Manantiales spa, Maldonado department, on kilometer 101 of route 104, five kilometers from the Atchugarry Museum (MACA).
This section is usually congested during the summer season because it serves as a connection between the tourist points of Punta del Este that unite the towns of José Ignacio, La Barra, Manantiales and El Chorro.
“We were alerted to a frontal collision between two light vehicles where nine people were traveling inside,” said the spokesman for the operation mounted by firefighters in the area in television statements.
“We carried out the rescue of two women of legal age from inside one of the vehicles that were transferred to the hospital, and two other women who are also of legal age are deceased,” the officer added.
