Tributes continue in honor of Jonathan Diller

Family, friends and police colleagues say their last goodbye to the uniformed officer killed in the line of duty.

The remains of Jonathan Diller, fatally shot Monday in Far Rockaway Queens, will be buried on Long Island.

On Friday, police officers across the region placed banners and candles to honor his life and legacy.

That was just one of the events honoring Diller, who was shot and killed in Far Rockaway on Monday while conducting a traffic stop.

On Staten Island, the police advocacy group Blue Lives Matter held a march to honor Diller’s life and dedication to the department.

The Mets paid tribute to Diller on opening day, putting his photo on the big screen and holding a moment of silence.

Diller lived with his wife and one-year-old son in Massapequa Park on Long Island, where his wake was held for the second consecutive day on Friday.

The NYPD indicates that Diller and his partner were responding to a report of a vehicle illegally parked at a bus stop in Far Rockaway when the man in the passenger seat, Guy Rivera, pointed a gun at them and shot Diller.

His partner returned fire and wounded Rivera in the back.

Rivera has been charged with first-degree murder of a police officer and several other charges.
