Former United States President Donald Trump would knock out his main rival, the governor of Florida Ron DeSantis, in the Republican Party primaries to choose a candidate for the presidential elections that are held in the country in 2024. This survey shows that Trump is a favorite among nearly every demographic and region and in every ideological wing of the partyinforma The New York Times. The former president does not take a toll on his legal problems and leads with great advantage in the different sectors of the Republican voter: men and women, young and old, moderates and conservatives, those who went to college and those who did not, and in cities, suburbs and areas rural.
Overall, Trump he leads DeSantis with 54% support to 17%. No other applicant exceeds 3% support.
The survey shows, therefore, that some of the central arguments of the DeSantis campaign have so far failed to prevail, according to the American newspaper.
Last week, The governor of Florida assured that if elected president of the United States and the Justice finally sentenced Trump, he would probably pardon him. “I’m going to do what’s right for the country. I don’t think it’s good for the country that a former president of almost 80 years goes to prison. It doesn’t seem like it’s a good thing,” DeSantis said last Friday during an interview on a podcast and picked up by the news portal The Hill, reported Europa Press.
Those remarks come at a time when the former president could face additional charges for his role in the January 2021 storming of the Capitol. the former US president has several other cases openincluding an alleged case of bribery of adult film actress Stormy Daniels and another for the deliberate retention of classified documents at her Mar-a-Lago mansion in Florida.
