Miami.- The assistant Waltine Nauta will be criminally accused this Tuesday for allegedly having helped the former president of the United States. Donald Trump to hide classified documents claimed by the courts in Mar-a-Lago, the residence of the ex-governor in South Florida.

The one who was Trump’s military assistant during his Presidency (2017-2021) and then remained at his personal service He will be accused of 38 charges, one more than his former boss, who faces 37 for crimes such as illegally withholding secret US Defense-related documents and obstruction of justice, punishable by jail time and fines.

Nauta, 41, could not be prosecuted on June 13 along with Trump because he then lacked a lawyer with permission to practice in Florida, for which reason his presentation had to be delayed until this Tuesday.

This Tuesday he is summoned before Judge Edwin G. Torres, who will read the charges and prosecute him.

Nauta, whose full name is Waltine Torre Nauta, was born on the island of Guan, a US possession in the Pacific, and entered the US Navy in 2001.

The Prosecutor’s Office accuses Nauta of having helped Trump move boxes with official documents inside Mar-a-Lago so that FBI agents and the former president’s lawyers could not find them.

In August 2022, FBI agents carried out a search in Mar-a-Lago by order of justice and found a hundred classified documents among many other official papers.

The jury trial is initially scheduled to begin on August 14, but the Prosecutor’s Office has already requested that it be from December 11 because they need more time to put together their strategy.

According to the indictment, Nauta and other employees moved inside Mar-a-Lago several times and even sent photos of the overturned boxes.

Supposedly, some boxes were loaded into Nauta’s car and taken to a truck that then took them to the National Archives (NARA).

The indictment alleges that Trump ordered Nauta “to move boxes of documents to hide them from Trump’s attorney, the FBI, and the grand jury.”
