The seven barges loaded with ore released their moorings and sailed adrift in the San Lorenzo area until at least one of them, the tug Hercules XV, collided against an anchored cargo ship waiting to start operating at the Vicentin dock.

The Liberian-flagged ship Adrienne was severely affected by the impact of at least one of the loaded barges.

Meanwhile, the barges belonging to the Imperial Logistics company, of the Hidrovias do Brasil group, They also suffered severe damage. although they would not run the risk of sinking, according to some of their crew members. No spillage of products or fuel from the affected ship has been reported.
