Twitter currently has a “two-tier society” of blue ticks. On the one hand, the owners of the blue ticks according to the previous verification system (like the author of this post) and on the other hand, Twitter Blue subscribers have one. So every paying customer has a blue tick, so it is worthless as information whether it is a personality, a journalist or another “important source”.

Previously, the blue tick on Twitter indicated that they were active, reputable, and authentic public interest accounts that Twitter had independently verified based on certain requirements.

A blue tick can currently mean two different things:

The account has an active subscription to the new service Twitter Blue and meets the requirements set by Twitter, or
the account was previously verified using the old verification criteria (active, well-known, and authentic).

Logo, there’s no need to argue that the earlier system wasn’t useless either – but it often served as a classification. In any case, the old blue hooks should go – if the user is not a subscriber to Twitter Blue, at least says Elon Musk. Musk said that in the context of a tweet noting that the new blue ticks are a joke. They would all be corrupt, according to Musk. Whatever he means, the king of paint drinkers.
