Posting a good joke or exclusive information on Twitter can soon bring in money. The platform would prepare its service called “Coins” to remunerate its best contributors.
The digital success of certain tweets could soon become a source of income. Twitter is reportedly about to unveil Coins, a way to reward post authors based on their success. Like bits on Twitch – a virtual currency that a spectator distributes as he sees fit to streamers – a user of the social network will be able to grant “coins” to publications that he appreciates.
No indication of coin price
The future option was unveiled by security researcher Jane Manchun Wong, explains Mashable. She published several images of the device, which differs from the “Super Follow” – a kind of subscription to a Twitter account. We thus learn that a list of distinctions is proposed. Based on the number of coins awarded, posts will be assigned ranks ranging from “Mind Blown” for one coin to “Gold” for 5000 coins.
In order to distribute these reward tokens, you will first have to buy them. For this, the application redirects to the Stripe payment platform, indicates the site Decrypt. Despite its name, Twitter’s feature will not be tied to bitcoins. Jane Manchun Wong at least saw no mention of any cryptocurrency. Nevertheless, the Decrypt platform accepts payments from cryptocurrency.
On the other hand, no information has leaked regarding the redistribution of the coins. The price of a compensation token remains unknown, as does the share that Twitter plans to take. Because the implementation of the Coins function is part of the plan which aims to make the social network profitable under the leadership of Elon Musk.
