The A100 city highway will be closed for climate protests on Sunday morning. The police had initially banned the concert originally planned for the afternoon by the music and action group “Lebenslaute” and the climate group “Last Generation”. According to the decision of the administrative court on Friday evening, it can take place – but earlier and shorter. The concert between Tempelhofer Damm and Oberlandstrasse is directed against the construction and expansion of motorways.
According to the court, the meeting may only take place from 10 a.m. to 10.45 a.m., due to set-up and dismantling, the A100 will be closed for almost two hours from 9.30 a.m. to 11.15 a.m. It was originally scheduled from 12pm to 4pm. The court explained that according to the police, car traffic on Sunday morning is very low. The shift is intended to minimize the risk of accidents.
On Saturday, activists from the group “Last Generation” sprayed orange paint on shop windows and facades on the Ku’damm with fire extinguishers luxury shops. “We can no longer afford the rich” was on posters, as well as “Your luxury = our climate collapse”. The police took personal details. The group is holding a rally at the Brandenburg Gate on Sunday, and hundreds of activists want to “paralyze” Berlin from Monday.
