Bayer Leverkusen has often proved to have a lucky hand with transfers from South America. The latest Bayer commitment could now come from Colombia. According to a report by Portuguese news channel ‘SIC’, the transfer of Gustavo Puerta from Bogotá FC is a done deal.
The central midfielder is said to be on his way to Germany in the coming hours to complete all the necessary formalities. The Werkself will pay a transfer fee of two million euros. The 19-year-old has a contract with Leverkusen until 2027. Puerta is considered a great talent in his home country, scoring two goals and providing just as many assists this season.
With Colombia, the right-footed player is currently at the U20 South American Championship and is even the team captain. The group game against Argentina is scheduled for Los Cafeteros on Saturday (1:30 CET).
