But the woman and the driver of the vehicle had already left the place located at 63rd Street and Northwest Fourth Avenue.
Rescuer Jennifer Diliz says that in the video “you can see that the dog doesn’t want to get out of the car… as if she knew something was wrong.”
As soon as she received a call about this case, she wanted to help and managed to get the dog to be taken to a shelter.
In that shelter they did a medical checkup and they even named the pet that they now call Sunflower and they hope that it will find a new family very soon.
Natalie Paige, of Big Dog Ranch Rescue, says that the dog “is very sweet, very loving and friendly. She shows that she was in a home environment, which is usually the saddest part of these stories, because when they leave them, they suffer it.
Cases like this are repeated with great frequency throughout the country, shelters face a 60 percent increase in deliveries and rescues, while the space available for new animals is depleted very quickly.
“It is very alarming. Unfortunately, an estimated 13 million dogs could be euthanized this year. That is why it is very important for us to raise awareness,” explains Paige.
“We need to learn how to become responsible owners … and know that there are always other options before abandonment,” ask the animal rescuers.
