This month Ubisoft announced that it had canceled the development of 3 yet unannounced video games, canceled the recently announced Project Q and delayed Skull & Bones once again, but things do not end there as now they would have suffered a leak. According to new rumors, Ubisoft would be working on two new installments of the Far Cry franchise and one of them would be far cry 7.

It’s been a little over a year since Far Cry 6 was released on modern consoles, so it makes sense that Ubisoft is already working on the next installment in the series, but apparently they’re also working on an online multiplayer experience as well. Independent.

This was reported by Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, who claims to have received screenshots of one of the Far Cry games in development, as well as some information about the two from two sources who wish to remain anonymous. Apparently, originally both experiences were the same under the code name of Project Taliskerbut when Dan Hay left Ubisoft to join Blizzard.

The project has since been split into 2, with the single player experience becoming Far Cry 7, codenamed Project Blackbirdand the multiplayer experience in an all-new spin-off known as Project Maverick. Details of both projects are few, but a little more is known about the online multiplayer Far Cry.

Apparently, Project Maverick is a Far Cry set in Alaska in which players must survive the dangers of the environment, as well as face rival players. This Far Cry would be an extraction-based shooter with mechanics such as permadeath, a backpack system, contracts, and more. Apparently, it will be more important to protect yourself from nature than from other players, so dangerous weather and wild animals await us.

As for Far Cry 7, which is codenamed Project Blackbird, there are very few details, but it is believed that it could be set in a similar place since both experiences were the same project at the beginning. Although tentative release dates for these games are as early as 2025, Henderson believes that Ubisoft’s inconsistency in recent years could push them back to later.
