In an interview given Friday evening to FigaroAt Sunday newspaper, and at France Inter and unveiled this Saturday, the Head of State set his roadmap in relation to the conflict in Ukraine. He said he wanted to see the defeat of the invader, but not the “crushing” of Russia.

Back on Friday evening from the Security Conference held in Munich, the Head of State confided in some journalists from the Figaroof Sunday newspaper and France Inter. He thus evoked the war in Ukraine.

Emmanuel Macron said he wanted Moscow to be “defeated” against Ukraine, while warning those who wanted “above all to crush Russia”, which will “never” be “France’s position”. “I am convinced that in the end, it will not end militarily,” he further observed. He also believes that “all the options other than Vladimir Putin within the current system” seem to him “worse” than the Russian president.
