A 73-year-old woman dies in a Russian attack in Kharkov province

A 73-year-old woman died this Saturday morning as a result of a Russian bombardment on the town of Kupianzk-Vuzlovi, in the Kharkov province, according to the regional governor, Oleg Sinegubov.

“This morning, around 5:10 a.m., the enemy fired on the village of Kupiansk-Vuzlovi, in the Kupiansk district. A residential building was hit. A 73-year-old woman died,” Sinegubov wrote on his Telegram channel. The information could not be independently verified.

Kharkov province, in northeastern Ukraine, bordering Donetsk and Lugansk to the south, is part of the war front and is the scene of fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces. The Ukrainian military forces have reported that the activity of the Russian military in the area has increased in recent weeks, while the Ukrainian counteroffensive launched in June concentrated operations in the south and east of the country. The Kharkov authorities launched an evaluation order at the beginning of August for civilians in the areas closest to the front, precisely in the Kupiansk district.
