“I wanted a bigger hole, to be honest,” he was quoted as saying The Kyiv Post.

Referring to the UK- and France-supplied Storm Shadow and Scalp cruise missiles used in the attack, he added:

“This is the best advertisement in the world for our guns, which fly right on target. For some reason, the Russian air defense cannot cope, for the thousandth time.”

Ignat said the attack was carried out with the help of “Russian residents of Crimea” who provided information to Ukraine.

“This is not only a blow to the heart of the Black Sea Fleet’s naval forces, but also a blow to Putin’s dictatorship. Everyone will see this. This cannot be hidden,” he added.

At least one Ukrainian missile struck the Russian Black Sea Fleet headquarters in the Crimean port city of Sevastopol on Friday afternoon, according to the Russian-installed governor there, quoted by Reuters. The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the attack.
