This year, for people over 80 and people in special housing, they must take two doses of the covid vaccine. The spring dose began to be given on March 1, and so far 44 percent of people over 80 and residents of special housing have taken it. It is clearly less than last autumn, when a total of 75 percent took the dose.
– Much of the talk about covid has disappeared during the year and many may think that the infection is gone. But it is not, and for the individual it can be very important to take this dose, says David Edenvik, infectious disease doctor Region Jönköping County.
Large differences in vaccination coverage
The differences in the proportion of people over 80 who have taken the care dose are large – both nationally and locally in the county. Best in the country is Region Värmland, where 71.6 percent have taken the dose. The worst is Stockholm county, where only 10.7 percent have taken the dose.
In the county, vaccination coverage is best in Aneby, where 59 percent of the group has been vaccinated, compared to Mullsjö, where barely 25 percent have taken the dose.
