This is the second time this week that confidential documents have been found in places where Joe Biden worked or lived.

“A small number” of confidential documents dating from the time of the vice-presidency of Joe Biden were found in his private residence in Wilmington, the White House said Thursday.

Following the discovery of a dozen such documents in a former office of the US president, his lawyers reviewed all his files and found “a small number of additional documents dating from the Obama-Biden administration and classified as confidential,” which were in the garage of his Delaware residence and an adjacent room, according to a statement.

Joe Biden immediately reacted by saying “fully cooperate” with American justice. He also specified that these documents were in a locked garage, “not deposited in the street”.

Second discovery in three days

Wednesday, after the discovery of confidential documents in one of the offices he sometimes used as workplaces, dating from his vice-presidency under Barack Obama (2009-2017), President Biden had claimed to be unaware of their content.

The documents were found “when my lawyers cleaned out my office at the University of Pennsylvania”, detailed Joe Biden.

As soon as the lawyers found that some were confidential, “they did what they had to do, they called the archives” to hand them over, according to the president.
